Omar Khan



Omar is a theatre director, filmmaker, writer and facilitator based in the Midlands. He is currently Associate Artist at Derby Theatre, a member of the Freelance Task Force, and a tutor at Mansfield Palace's Youth Theatre.

His work challenges form & conventions to subvert traditional theatrical narrative. In 2019, Omar was an artist in residence at the Birmingham REP where he wrote & directed Ritual, an immersive exploration of the psychedelic experience.

Omar has also worked with charities including the British Red Cross, Derby's Plus OneOasis in South Africa, and Volunteer Uganda. His work is defined by his passion for creative expression, and deeply rooted in his process is a desire for compassion, tolerance and equity for all.


Current work includes facilitating for Derby Theatre's community project Reimagine; volunteering with The Hub: Hubbub Theatre's actor training for neurodiverse adults; and R&D for A Beginner's Guide to Being a Widow, a piece that explores women's journeys through bereavement
