In Good Company Presents, in association with Living Pictures
DIRECTOR’S BOOK CLUB (Zoom Edition)
Every Tuesday in March 6PM – 7.30PM
FREE (10 places available)
Book Club is a group which will meet to gain a genuine understanding of directing texts in an unpressurised digital rehearsal room environment. If you struggle to understand dense texts about directing or want a space to explore them without the pressure production, don’t worry, you are not alone.
Book Club will be a gaggle of people who have worked as a director or in an associate; assistant role and can demonstrate a commitment to professional theatre directing, whether that be as a theatre maker or creative.
The sessions will be peer-led and held within a safe, supportive environment, they will be designed to test the ideas of a book rather than your own practice; enabling everyone to gain the confidence to lead a session whilst all collectively exploring the approach within the text.
Each Director prepares an agreed section of the book and leads a practical session exploring it with the group. The Director’s Book Club will collectively decide on texts they wish to explore in the future.
Book Club format: 4 evening sessions (it’s very important that you make every effort to commit to all of the sessions before applying)
The text: the text will be decided by the club.
Venue: On zoom.
If you want to join Director’s Book Club, then please do send a short paragraph outlining your experience and why being involved in Director’s Book Club appeals to you, to book club coordinator Laura Ryder: email@example.com (150 words)
